DAY 6
Today we traveled from Phnom Penh to Sihanukville to host the training of the 245 pastors and faculty. It has been a very long day because it was a four hour drive. People were tired and ready for a break at the end.
Elisha has taken to Tola greatly. They are best friends now! The new saying is that wherever Tola is Elisha is with her. Which is exactly right. They sat together on the bus, sat together at lunch, and whenever one got up to walk around the other was with them. We keep joking that Elisha won’t be able to go back to Dayton without Tola so we keep telling Rome that he needs to write Tola and Tarra visas to get into the country!
Tola is one of the group leaders and helps translate wherever we go.
Tarra is Tola’s husband and has been doing the same thing.
We got to the White Beach Hotel and saw that we are as close to t5he beach as any hotel can get. We have to cross the street and then we're there! We're on the fourth floor so we get a perfect view of the Indian Ocean.
We saw the facility that we'll be training the pastors in and we have a lot of room. They had a whole meal prepared for us and everything!
The pastors would walk up the steps into the open room. I stood right next to the stairs at the top and greeted people and saw their faces. Most were filled with joy and excitement and some were half exasperated and half nervous (mostly these were the people that had small children for a long bus ride:).
A little boy, no older than two or three came up to me and said "Hello" many times. I could tell he was trying to tell me many things but he could only speak the word hello in English. It was an interesting experience.
