Day 7
Here is a post from Alistair.
Yesterday we went to the beach. The water is the Gulf of Thailand which runs into the Indian Ocean. It has one of the strongest rip currents in the world. It was really hard to play in the waves because the rip current was so strong. The water was cold at our feet but warm at our chests. The waves were really, really bad for little kids but good for surfing. The waves were strong for me.
After the beach we went swimming at the pool at our hotel. It was calm and the water was cooler than in U.S. pools.
Then we had supper. It was the most American meal we could have here, fried chicken and french fries.
You are probably eating breakfast as I write this, but it is eight-o-clock at night here.

The Morning
Alistair enjoyed going to the beach quite a lot!
In the morning it was our first training day. We gathered at the facility with all the other pastors for the first plenary. Tom Boomershine was in charge pf the plenaries so he gave the lectures about storytelling. They were very rich and interesting. We are just now getting used to the way teaching and preaching is with translators. The food at this facility is good but we are now having to be very careful because Tom Boomershine, Angela, and Chad Meeks all had upset stomach last night.
At ten-thirty we all split up and went to different workshops to teach. The space is not ideal so we have to put 2-3 groups in one room. The space is set up as one big room that is open and has a stage in one corner, a big dining room, and a lot of empty corners and there is a room that is air conditioned and has a stage and a good amount of space. That is all that we have to work with. It is also challenging because the big open room is not air conditioned so we had Amelia, Tom B., and Tom R. in that room (basically having heat stroke the whole time, mostly because the roof has many windows in it. Juliana and Angela are in the conference room (in luxury because they have air conditioning) and then Liz is stationed outside under a few trees. I was mostly with her, helping and taking footage but I really enjoyed going into the conference room to take footage! The temperatures are not bad but the humidity is awful!
We ate lunch at the facility and I was very careful of what I ate!
